33 Art Students from St. Anthony High School were invited to display their work at Narrow Space Art Gallery in the exhibition ALOUD IN ART: A Celebration of Emerging Artists. This apprentice-curated exhibition features new works by three emerging artists alongside approximately 33 artworks by students from St. Anthony High School – many of whom will be exhibiting in a professional gallery for the very first time. Through vibrant brushstrokes and bold visual expression, Aloud in Art offers each artist and student a platform to share their unique creative voice.

 Joy Demain fell in love with color as a child, but her painting journey began twenty-five years later when she picked up a small watercolor set and surprised herself with what emerged. That moment opened a door she has never closed.  Joy’s work reflects the expressive, joy-driven style that grew from those years of exploration and her deep sense of aloha.

Born in Rio de Janeiro and shaped by her childhood in the Amazon rainforest, Jozane Resende creates work rooted in close observation of the natural world. She collaborates with leaves, petals, rocks, and roots, transforming their textures into prints and mixed-media pieces that feel both intimate and expansive. Jozane’s practice draws on architectural training, global studies in natural dyes, Japanese papers, Indigo, Shibori, sumi-e, and Tibetan Thangka painting, as well as her ongoing exploration of Chinese printmaking.

When a rare genetic condition began to rob her of vision, she reached a life-changing turning point: a painting set gifted by her sister. That spark reignited a dormant passion, and today Sammy’s abstracts burst with color, movement, and joy.
